My local church recently asked me if I would minister a "Meal Train." When asked, I responded that I had no idea what a meal train was. Upon researching, I found the fabulous website takethemameal.com, which helps coordinate, plan, and order meals from their site. This site may be used by anyone interested in coordinating a meal train for family or friends in need.
A few weeks ago, we had our first meal request. Using the website took me less than 10 minutes to set up the meal request. Praise God for the wonderful volunteers; in less than a week, we had all the meals scheduled for the family.
What is Meal Train?
A meal train is a coordinated effort to provide meals to someone in need, whether due to illness, a recent surgery, the arrival of a new baby, or other life events. It's an excellent way for our church to offer tangible support and nourishment during challenging times.
Benefits of a Meal Train
• Provides Nourishment: Ensures the recipient has nutritious meals without the stress of cooking.
• Offers Spiritual and Emotional Support: Praying and providing for the family in need shows that our church family cares for and supports them.
• Builds Community: Strengthen the participants' bond and foster unity.
• Reduces Stress: Alleviates the burden of meal planning during a challenging time.
"For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty;
only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another."
Galatian 5:13
